IS BAKING SODA A BASE?

The reaction between Na2CO3, the base, and some acid, H+ gives us baking soda or sodium bicarbonate, with chemical formula NaHCO3. By definition baking soda is a salt, because the product of an acid and base is a salt. Baking soda can further react with an acit to give H2CO3.
